29.10.05 CQN 0 Carmarthen Town 1

Rhodri Jones' eight minute header from a Gary Lloyd corner was enough to secure a deserved win for Town against a determined and competitive CQN.

Town created several clear cut opportunities but lacked the finishing touch with Danny Thomas striking wide, Craig Hughes losing out in a one on one with the keeper and Lloyd's late effort going astray.
Keeper Adrian Delve made his mark in his League debut to deny Nomads' new signing Gary O'Toole but with Richard Carter in commanding form and Lloyd back to his old self Town's back line remained strong throughout.

For the opposition numerous half chances went astray but Chris Williams and Danny Jellicoe at the back made things difficult for Town with Jellicoe pulling off one outstanding second half tackle to deny Town's forward line. A good win that sees Town into seventh in the League ahead of next week's Welsh Cup third round action against Briton Ferry.

15.10.05 Carmarthen Town 1 Caersws 3

In a game where Caersws keeper Andrew Mulliner was in constant action and Carmarthen Town keeper Tony Pennock was virtually redundant the visitors executed a classic smash and grab raid that saw them capture all three points and notch up their first win of the season.
Town could have, and should have, put the game beyond doubt in the first twenty minutes. But a combination of brilliant keeping by Mulliner and a hat full of squandered chances by Town’s attack saw the visitors ride the early storm and punish Town for their profligacy with three well taken goals.

With Giles firing wide and Walters’ run from deep requiring a finishing touch Mulliner saved at point blank range from Kevin Evans after Mark Dodds and Nathan Cotteral had linked well to provide the opening.

Town captain Rhodri Jones came close after Gary Lloyd had got behind the Bluebirds defence and when Jones and Cotterall again linked well Mattie Davies’ header flashed wide of the mark.

Caersws were living a charmed existence but soon punished Town for their wastefulness. Breaking from defence the lively Neville Thompson was brought down wide out. With Graham Jones flicking on the set piece Geraint Lewis buried the ball from the edge of the box to give his side an unexpected lead on 25 minutes.

A speculate lob from Sean Jehu kept Pennock on his toes and having, once again, soaked up
pressure a strong run from the-in form Thompson saw the wing man get behind the home defence to provide Ross Stephens with a free shot on goal to make it 2-0 to the visitors four minutes past the half hour mark.

Two minutes later Town were back in the game. Colin Reynolds brought down the hard working Dodds inside the box and with Lloyd converting the spot kick Town had some recompense to show for their effort.

With the break approaching Lloyd’s curling corner caused mayhem in the Caersws box and with first Andrew Thomas and then Hugh Clarke clearing strikes off the line Town’s equaliser remained illusive.

Then on the stroke of half time Walters produced another weaving run to round the back line only for the unmarked Davies to see his header palmed wide of the post by the alert Mulliner.

Five minutes into the second half Town looked to have levelled when Neil Smothers’ shot hit the base of the post and Walters buried the rebound. But with the linesman flagging for offside the equaliser was denied.
Then, just as it looked that Town were gaining the upper hand, it was the irrepressible Thompson that secured the win for Mickey Evans’ men with a strong run down the right and a neat one-two with Mitchell before firing home to make it 3-1 and bury any hope Town had of maintaining their unbeaten home record .

There was little to liven the remaining half hour. Caersws packed their defence making it difficult for Town to break the experienced back line. With little threat or invention, except for the six second half cautions issued by Mr. Morgan, it was a disappointing result following a first half period that had promised much.

08.10.05 Bangor City 1 Carmarthen Town 2

In a thoroughly entertaining match Carmarthen Town notched up a valuable away win against Bangor City in a game that could quite easily have gone either way.
Town captain Rhodri Jones celebrated his return to fitness when he struck an early lead for the visitors, bundling in a cross from the right through a crowded box on 12 minutes.
With action at both ends there was little to choose between the sides but Town retained the slim advantage at the half way mark.

Following the break the hosts forced considerable pressure with a series of corners and seven minutes into the second period, as Town looked to clear, a cross back into the box saw Lee Martin's shot from close in put the ‘Citizens’ on level terms.
Then just before the hour Mattie Davies broke the home defence and when Paul O'Neill was adjudged to have fouled on the edge of the box Gary Lloyd put Town ahead once again from the set piece. With Town having to withstand some late pressure from the hosts the Richmond Park outfit hung on to take all three points and move back up to sixth position.

01.10.05 Cardiff Corinthians 0 Carmarthen Town 11

Carmarthen Town cruised into the 3rd round of the Welsh Cup and a tie against Welsh League outfit Briton Ferry after demolishing Cardiff Corries 11-0 on Saturday. Richard Carter captained the side against his former club whilst Mattie Davies handed his former team mates a lesson in finishing with a first half hatrick.

The writing was on the wall early on for the Corries. First Mark Dodds and then Sacha Walters wasted glorious chances before Davies started his rout and Gary Lloyd added a fourth from the penalty spot all before the half hour mark. With Richard Kennedy added a fifth just before the break the game was all but over as a contest at the half way mark.

The second half saw Danny Thomas replace Nathan Cotterrall as Town camped in the Corries half. Dodds caused havoc in the home defence as time and time again his hard work created numerous chances for his forwards. Thomas, Lloyd (2) Essa and Dodds himself made it double figures before Walters with a 25 yard drive finished matters off.

This weekend Town travel to Bangor City and welcome back Rhodri Jones, Craig Hughes,Gareth Warton and Martyn Giles to the squad.

Town :Pennock, Essa, Lloyd, Kennedy (Hardy 50'), Carter (captain), Evans, Walters, Smothers (James 50'), Dodds, Davies, Cotterrall (Thomas 45')
